Absolute Monocytes

Monocytes are one of the 5 main types of white blood cell. They ingest bacteria and other foreign particles. Monocytes are usually larger then other peripheral blood white blood cells.

Monocytes are white blood cells that leave the circulation to become macrophages. They may be elevated due to inflammation, collagen disease (i.e. Rheumatoid Arthritis), ulcerative colitis, recovery after an infection or trauma.
